Gap Year Research

I'm taking a gap year to do research at a major research hospital that is affiliated with a university and medical school. I already have been working with the physician and have a plan set up for my gap year, but I need to source independent funding. Does anyone know of any gap year research awards? Or research awards for clinical research that postbaccs can apply for? Everything I seem to find is for med students/residents/fellows, and I won't technically be any kind of "student" during my gap year.
