I'll be taking a gap year for this application cycle and while I do plan to do some clinical and non-clinical volunteering, I'm still looking for employment. For secondaries that ask about what I'm doing during my gap year, should I just say something like "I plan to secure employment"?

I'm saying where I plan to work and what I will be doing. I guess it's kind of hard if you haven't figured out where yet.

I didn't take a gap year, but I would imagine it would help to write about what you are trying to do. So say something like, I'm working to get a position doing research. Or trying to get a job to pay the bills while being able to balance my several volunteer positions at hospitals and what not.
