just work as a scribe and forget about the 1 year commitment. i've worked for over a year as a scribe and not a lot of people actually work for a year or longer.

nevermind don't scribe, i realized i didn't read what you wrote. if you're going to scribe for 2 months you shouldn't put that in your activities in AMCAS. like @Keladry said just do something enjoyable/shadow or volunteer somewhere

If you want to scribe, you can, but if it's just a summer you'll barely finish training. Find a job, learn a new language, do some other sort of research/volunteer work if you want, shadow on the side - do something productive and enjoyable.
