Lets say I graduate after 4 years of undergrad and do not get accepted into dental school. What would be some good activities to engage in if I decided to move over seas (like to the middle east for example) that would be good for my experience and look good on an application? Maybe shadow foreign dentists? Volunteer overseas?

I would recommend traveling (couch surfing , volunteering, backpacking) . I did that and do not regret it. Believe me 70% of my dental school interviews were spent talking about crazy travel stories, it was the gift that kept on giving, you can always relate them, even if they have nothing to do with dentistry. My personal statement also had some stories. More importantly traveling makes everyone more open minded and the world a better place. I got into 6 schools too btw

Traveling is great, but it does not contribute an iota to the stats that count.

Working with a special project will always get you plus points. Things like "operation smile" or anything where you are helping to improve the lives of others. -admissionstomedicine
