applied to 20 schools, 5th batch
still nothing.

i guess it's fair to say that i will not be getting any pre-dec interviews?
maybe after academic update and boost my gpa a little then maybe?

asking a pre-dent forum won't really get you an answer to that question since
we really have no idea how competitive your application is.

who knows if you'll land 1 interview and get accepted... or if you get 5 interviews and get accepted to 0?

It all depends on who you are and what you've done to make yourself appealing to the admissions.

that being said, be confident in yourself and just keep up the good work.
