first of all, i am using destroyer 2009 isn't it different from the 2010 edition ?


there is an equilibrium equation

1NOBr <-> 2NO Br2 H=30

which of the following would shift the equilibrium to the right ?

I am confused... because I think i know what the question is asking..

I thought there is no answer here but the answer was D

which is increase the container volume..


when increase the container volume, it means both product and the reactant increase same which doesn't make any change btwn the equation right ???


why is it shifted to right ??


also, i don't understand why when increasing the pressure the equation shift to left.... because increasing the pressure effect both side and it has more speed back and forth but doesn't change the equilibrium right ??
 
Do you have a sub to Chad's vids? I think you're missing some fundamental knowledge in how equilibrium works and I don't think you would gain much by asking those type of q's on this forum; it would just confuse you more actually. I suspect you're just jumping directly to doing problems without having reviewed the course first. That probably will not do you any favors; review first and then go about doing probs. Good luck.
 
The problem should be written,

2 NOBr (g) <-> 2 NO (g) + Br2 (g) H=30kJ

I will make it simple and easy.

when H = positive, hence endothermic the "temperature" is on the left side
when H = negative, hence exothermic the temperature is on the right side

so for our question, T is on the left side because it is endothermic. Following Le Chateller's principle, if you decrease temperature, then reaction shifts left.

and as far as pressure and volume's effect on equilibrium,

increase in pressure or decrease in volume favors the side with less moles of gas present

decrease in pressure or increase in volume favors the side with more moles of gas present
