Guys,

It is prolly a very simple question, but I want to make sure I got the answer right. Why reacting BaCO3 (solid) with HCl(aq) is a gas forming reaction?

BaCO3 + 2HCl -> BaCl2 + H2CO3

carbonic acid will further react,

H2CO3 -> H2O + CO2(g)

so, for example, you can see some bubbles in the solution.

Oh I see now. I haven't thought about the 2nd step. I guess, i could recognize H2CO3 from biology sections.
Are there any other typical reaction that will do that and form gas when reacting acid with salt?
