Hey,

Does the GC portion of the Science section require such detailed calculations w/out the use of a calculator? I'm currently going through Achiever and the GC section seems to require quite a bit of calculations.

If so is there are any great resources to improve on mental math. I can do basic algebra in my head but multiplying/dividing decimals and fractions takes longer.

Thanks

This is why I hated GC. Yes they do expect you to do math without a calculator. I had to use formulas such as C1V1=C2V2, q=mcAt, PV=nRT, G=H-TS, molarity, molality, etc. Thankfully they aren't usually too detailed. I used Chad's Videos and Math Destroyer.

Mine was mostly conceptual. Only a few math problems. But then again the calculations were simple with pretty numbers. No estimation needed.

My test had nothing terribly difficult. You know how Chad says that sometimes, all they require you to do is set up the problem and not actually solve it? That's true. I was never in a crunch without a calculator, and GC isn't my strongest subject.

I loved Achiever, don't get me wrong, but their gen chem section came straight from the depths of hell. Even when they asked you to set up a problem and not calculate it, it blew my mind. Gen chem on Achiever, especially the "mathy" questions, is way overboard.
