GChem: Balancing equations

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Why dont you give us 2 or 3 examples that are giving you problems and we can explain them to you. 🙂

In general, I find the most "busy looking" compound in the equation, like H2SO4 and more complex compound, and say that I have 1 mole of it. Then, I would try to balance the equation. If I end with with fractions, then I just multiply the whole thing by a factor that gets rid of all the fractions.

I do deviate from this as I've acquired patterns from doing so many problems so that I can find the easiest compound to start that may not always be the most complex one. However, I still use the aforementioned script to solve balancing equation problems.
