so sometimes I get confused about which units to keep things in like for example in q=mcat we have to keep T in K or in PV=nRT its K or C.

So should I just look at the answer options to determine the units or do they only give the number and not units ?

Always use Kelvin for measure of temperature. However for q=mc(delta t) it is the change in temperature so it doesn't matter if you calculate it with Celsius or Kelvin because the difference will be the same.
