Did you guys memorize solubility rules in gchem when you took the test? I can't seem to memorize them long enough. I know them for a day, but I can't recall them easily. Is there a way to memorize them?

I didn't need anything past like dissolves like: organic dissolves organic, polar works on polar....

Do know that water dissolves ionic, while organics don't. One question you may have is which will dissolve a salt more readily, water, ether, ethanol...

So does water dissolve a salt more readily than ether and ethanol?

Salts are ionic compounds so yes, they will dissolve in water but not organics. That is one of the reasons why you wash with water in organic workups, to remove the salt impurities that precipitate out of the organic layer.
