Does anyone know anything about the dermatopathology department and fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in PA? I'm applying there and I don't really know much about it other than what's on their website, figured I'd see if anyone knew more than that. Thanks!

Just hearsay but I'm told it is OUTSTANDING.

I believe they do interview applicants who come from pathology as well as dermatology.

I've heard of multiple 3rd year residents opting to spend their away elective month in Danville, PA. I highly doubt it was the location that drew them but rather the outstanding teaching that Dr. Elston offers 😉

Not sure if they've fully integrated into the new clinic yet, they may still be based out of the main hospital which is a very short drive away.

I've also heard really good things about Geisinger's derm program in general and with Dirk Elston at the head of the dermpath training program I think you can't go wrong. While Danville may not be the most exciting place, it's an easy 2 1/2 hour drive from Philly, which is an amazing city -- totally underrated.

Dr. Elston graciously visited my program this past week. I must say, what a great teacher and down right nice person. Very prolific in our field, in many capacities. I'd love to have him as my mentor. With that said, I can only imagine he'd be phenomenal in this capacity.
