Hi everyone. If you guy can help me figure it ou. In question 36 of 2014 destroyer it is said that all gases contain equal numb of molecules at same T and P and they all have same average kinetic energy. Then in q 57 destroyer say that a t given T molecules of gas move at diff speed. Why is that if they have same kinetic energy? If u guys can help me I would greatly appreciate. Thank you

Because in order for both molecules to have the same average kinetic energy they must have different speeds in order for this equation to work: 1/2mv^2=1/2mv^2

So the heavy molecule will move slower, while the lighter molecule will move faster. As a result, there KE is the same.
