A mixture containing 9 mol of F2 and 4 mol of S is allowed to react.

3 F2 + S -> SF6

how many moles of F2 remain after 3 mol of S have reacted?

i believe the answer is zero but can anyone explain why
the answer says 1

I would also say Zero. Maybe the answer key is wrong?
3 Moles of F2 react with 1 Mole of S to make 1 Mole of product.
If 3 Moles of S reacts..it would require 9 moles of F2, leaving zero left over. Overall, you would be left with 1 mole of S that didn't partake in the reaction.

I agree.. simple ques. wonder why it would say 1 mol of F2 left over. what book is this question from?
 
3F2 + 1S --> SF6

9F2 + 4S --> 3SF6

F = 18 on left side and right side
S = 4 on left but only 3 on right side

Is that how there is one mole of something left over?
