On the last quarter of gen chem, I earned a 1.7 and I can take a hardship withdraw (due to health reasons) from it but a 1.7 (C-) is considered a passing at our university. It brought my gpa down. I'm unsure of whether I should retake the course or continue to organic chem. I really want to go to dental school.

Do NOT take the C-. Some schools don't even accept C- as a passing grade.

Take the W and retake. Save your GPA.
