Can the general biology requirement be fulfilled by taking upper-level biology classes?

Here's my case:

Plant and Cell Bio/Lab--5 hours
Animal Div/Ecology--3 hours

I wasn't able to take the 2 hour animal biology lab, but since then I've taken genetics, anatomy, and physiology. Do I still need to go back and take the lab I missed?

I think schools want you to take the same lab and course. I would say that if you need 2 bio classes plus lab, it should be two of something like cell bio + cell bio lab. I got AP credit for intro bio (lab included) and I took parasitology (lab included), and I am taking microbio + lab in the fall. As for whether they prefer general vs. upper level bio, it depends. I know that UIC wants 2 semesters of "general bio" or "intro bio" or something like that and then 1 semester of upper level.
