I'm a first year student looking to attain my pre req's for d-school and have a concern. I'm a kinesiology major but excelled in biology and therefore continued taking Bio classes in university. I have a 3.7 science gpa with my physiology, anatomy and bio courses but have absolutely ZERO background in chemistry. Ive spoken to the professor and he said because I have a decent average that it would be fine to take the general chem 1 class. I don't want to walk into the class 3 steps behind everyone else with prior knowledge of chemistry, so I need some recommendations on chemistry books I can teach myself with or at least help me grasp a general understanding of the basic concepts so I'm not so far behind. Thanks.

Gen Chem 1?

Is that different than basic entry-level chemistry?
What is the topic/description for the class you're taking?

Try to get hold of Chemistry by Zumdahl. I think it's the best written chemistry book out there -- I've used it in both high school and college courses with great success. Another alternative is Chemistry by Chang, but I don't have much experience with that book (Several of my classmates have used it).
