i just started to study for DAT.

i thought i didn't have to study for general chem since i took ACS test as a final and got 100%.
but, i tried general chem section from crack dat, and i got 18 twice.
now, i am so confused.
i don't know how to study.
plz, tell me how to study for general chem.
thank you guys

if you got 100 percent on ACS than you just need to go over the stuff and try taking the practice exams again. Even if you know the stuff, you still need to review and practice.

i agree, just practice. if you havent done it in a while then it may all seem a little foreign to you. i didn't take gchem for 3 years before i started studying for the dat. i took the test twice and went from a 16 to a 22!! i started out reviewing things in cliffs chem and kaplan bb** which i definitely recommend. after that i did some questions and subject tests from kaplan, which are priceless, and cleaned it up with destroyer. the destroyer gchem is a little tough and maybe a little overkill in my opinion, but i think those little details i learned in destroyer made a big difference, and the level of difficulty made the real thing seem like a breeze.

I thought the Ochem ACS was a lot harder than the DAT Ochem, since the ACS was more detail oriented. I thought the DAT was a bit more broad.

The way I studied for Gchem was doing practice problems and then reading the explanations until I knew it cold, and then just did more practice problems. You'll begin to see trends about what type of questions they like to ask, so that may give you a better idea of what to focus on.

Good Luck!

Every time you decide you know something 100% and you decide to skip it for the DAT, you can be sure that you're setting yourself up for failure!
Study everything!!!! No matter how well you think you know it!
For G-chem, I suggest using KAPLAN BB; it does a decent job of reviewing the key concepts and it has all the equations you need to know. Then move on to destroyer (or any other question bank you prefer using) and do lots and lots of problems!
