Unfortunately, I was not able to get into biology for my first year. Only class left open was Physics and luckily I got into General Chemistry. I'm really not sure what to expect... I've never been the brightest kid in school ever since high school. Math is also not my strongest subject but I do enjoy science. These two science classes will be my first science challenge.

What should I expect? I am a transfer student and have three years to complete my prerequisites for dental school. My beginning schedule will consist of General Physics 1, General Chemistry 1, and Anthropology.

Thanks!

Don't take gen chem AND physics your very first semester. That would be a nightmarish way to start your college career.

And really, you don't even need to take physics until your senior year--it's not on the DAT.

Keep checking to see if you can get into the bio class. A slot might open up later in the summer. Just be diligent about checking. If worst comes to worst, you can always try e-mailing a professor and seeing if they can let you into their class.

Hi Glimmer, I'm actually a transfer student so I can see how college is like but never really took challenging courses. Is it still a bad idea?

Gen chem can actually help with some basic concepts for physics class. As what Glimmer stated, I would wait for the bio class to open up their slots. Since it's a freshman class, most likely someone will drop.

I took Gen Chem and Physics during my first semester, was manageable but my Physics lab was pretty simple compared to Chem. Physics is a lot more math intensive and require more critical thinking than Chem I would say. But, I was also good at math. If you're up for the workload and lots of calculations, I would say go for it.
