In which set are the substances arranged in order of decreasing solubility in water?

(A) Al(OH)3 > Mg(OH)2 > NaOH

(B) BaSO4 > CaSO4 > MgSO4

(C) CaCO3 > NaHCO3 > Na2CO3

(D) AgCl > AgBr > AgI ???????




Why does D not work??? it increases in molecular weight, it is polar....am i missing something??

All Cl are soluble in water except for Ag, Pb and Hg, which I believe just always precipitates
 
I'm not sure but I think solubility in water decreases from left to right on the period.
 
water is a polar solvent and and as polarity of a substance decreases ,solubility also decreases.So here in all these compounds we have to see how is the polarity decreasing ?

(A) Al(OH)3 > Mg(OH)2 > NaOH
polarity is increasing as the metallic character is increasing . So this order is not correct. NaOH as we all know is completely soluble in water.
(B) BaSO4 > CaSO4 > MgSO4
This one is also not correct because here also polarity is increasing so solubility should increase.
It is true -BaSO4 is insoluble in water but
MgSO4 is soluble.
(C) CaCO3 > NaHCO3 > Na2CO3
this is also not correct .Na2CO3 is more polar is completely soluble in water whereas CaCO3 is insoluble.
(D) AgCl > AgBr > AgI ???????
In D as we go from AgCl to AgI polarity is decreasing so solubility is decreasing .Refer periodic table to see how ionic character of a bond decreases as we move down in halogen group.
