I was wondering how you guys studied for this section. I really hate general chemistry, I did well in the class by doing problem after problem, got a B+ and A-.

I think I am going to approach the gen chem section of the DAT the same way. I have examkraker's 1001 questions and I am currently enrolled in Kaplan. So overall that is like 1400 problems. Is that good enough to get around an 18 to 20 for this section?

Did anyone who took the DAT do the same thing? Or you sat down and tried to get the concepts down? Thanx for your help!!
🙁

Yes, I got a 20 on that section and all I used were the Kaplan materials. Even if you're just answering questions from memory(when you come to a problem you've already done) that will help. Because at the very least the formulas will get drilled into your head. I would not recommend trying to memorize the formulas on their own, do the problems until you can't stand it anymore or at least have the PROBLEMs memorized. Good luck!

Sincerely,

1400 problems is more than good enough for the GChem section. More accurately, it is 1370 problems more than you will need 🙂

Ok, I'll get to my point. IMO, the GChem materials from the Kaplan alone (Subject Test, Kaplan Diag, Midterm, Final, and Natural Sciences Workshops A&B) are more than you need to do excellent on the GChem section. If you understand those problems (more than just being able to answer them), you will do great on GChem!!! The Kaplan material will keep you focused on what is in scope for the DAT. This method worked very well for me, but again, this is just my opinion.

Good luck.
