Hey all, so after you finish studying the destroyer, cliffs ap bio, cdp, chads videos and all the other study materials out there how do you know your ready for the test ? I feel, no matter what you are never completely ready so when do you commit to a date?

Just pick a date. I didn't feel ready and pushed it back 4 times...cost me 100 dollars but it was well worth it. Setting a date motivates you to study...hard. Take practice full length exams from topscore and achiever (if you dare....they are really hard but make you keen to test maker tricks) and just do it. Good luck 🙂

Choose a date and stick with it. I dont think youll ever feel 100% ready for a test that has so many topics.

I would never have felt ready for the DAT. I studied for three months and finally decided that if I didn't know it then, I'd never know it. I signed up for my test date a week in advance and really cracked down on reviewing for that last week. I had a perpetual stomachache because I felt so unprepared that last week. I ended up with a 26. That being said, I have a bad habit of doubting myself and practically NEVER feel ready for tests. If you're anything like me (and tend to doubt yourself) and you've worked as hard as you can, just sign up for that bad boy and get it over with!

It all depends. If you got 70% or more correct, then you are ready. Take Kaplan or Destroyer or Achiever practice test . I mean, just do a pravctice session on one of the sections. If you get many correct, then you are ready. Hope this helps. Good luck.

When I am ready for a big exam like the DAT, I can't explain it...I just know that I am ready.

If I tried to explain it, it would be like at some point my brain has catalogued as much of the information its going to and it feels like its organized and ready. If I keep studying past the point when I am ready, my mind tells me it is feeling like its reading something its already memorized and filed away. If this experience starts to occur 9 out of 10 times, then I know I am as prepped as I'll ever be and the best time is right then and there to just go in and get it over with.

My approach was to pick a date, reserve it, and then move the exam back however many times I had to before I felt totally ready to go. I think I moved the date forwards about 4 times in 2 week increments each time. If I wasn't getting that feeling of having memorized all I was going to memorize and understand, I put it off.

The week before my final test date it all clicked a few days before the cut off date for moving the exam time (2 days before with no penalty except a 25$ fee if I remember right?) and I knew there was no rescheduling at that point because I was as saturated 100% and ready to go with the material as I would ever be.

That's the million dollar question. My experience was similar to qznbabi's. I pushed my exam back 4 or 5 times- but the important thing is to actually study if/when you push the date back. When I rescheduled that last time, I knew I was "ready" (or as ready as I was going to be), because my scores had stabilized and I knew that if I pushed back any further I would not study (ie I was burnt out) and my scores would just go downhill haha. If you realize that you can and will study more in the intermittent time, then by all means, postpone. However, if you feel that it's just nerves holding you back and you can't possibly learn any more in that extra time- just take it and be done with it. You will never feel 100% ready, and if you delay too long you run the risk of forgetting stuff you learned early on. Go with your gut- I'm sure you'll know the right answer when it comes to it. Good luck! 🙂

PS When I postponed the first couple of times it was in 2 wks increments, the last 2 or 3 times it was in 1 week increments. Just make sure you allocate enough time to postpone (ie by noon 2 business days prior to the exam plus a $25 (?) fee).
