Hey guys, I was curious if you could post any general interview questions. I have read the interview feedbacks, but was curious if you could think of some real generic ones besides "why doctor?" Also do you know of any books??? Thanks

Usually ask about an experience: research, clinical, or just your best one

What you like about the school
What type of medicine do you think you might be interested in


They also try to feel out your maturity level, and your ability to handle the workload at medical school (time management, etc)

These are just somes - but it really depends interview by interview. I had 2 seperate interviews, at UT-Houston and at NYU, where we talked about baseball more than medicine.

yeah kinda not too helpful to know general questions because every interview unless they have set questions they ask you...will be specific for each person.

depending on your life experiences, ecs etc...everything they ask each person will be different.

but since you probably wont find that reasoning satisfying....

1. why medicine?
2. why our school?
3. when did you know you wanted to be a doctor?
4. talk about healthcare.
5. talk about ethics.


and i dont really know any books. never been asked about books. and im sure some books on medicine are awesome but right now im just interested in other types of reading material so i cant help you there.

The open-ended "Tell me about yourself" is a ubiquitous favorite.

Suppose your beliefs were such that you were strongly against performing abortions, but as a physician you were trained on how to do them. One day a woman comes to you who was raped, subsequently became pregnant, and asked you to peform an abortion for her. You are the only physician in the state who knows how to perform them. What would you do knowing that you are fervently against abortion?

Yes, this question along with other difficult ethical questions was asked to me at my interview at AZCOM, which is a DO school. Needless to say, I was waitlisted. Even DO schools waitlist good candidates. 🙁
