Hi,

Nearing the end of residency....would like a general ortho job. Any advice about how to go about this? Have heard nightmares about recruiters. Ideally in Michigan or in the midwest. Any advice? Not sure yet on hospital employeed vs. private.

Thanks,

Nick

Have you talked to your PD? How about any colleagues who recently finished the program? They might be able to assist.

Your best bet is to search both the AAOS job placement website (if you have access to that) and the Merritt Hawkins website. Seems like your location preferences are open to General Ortho practitioners, so that's good. My husband is in his third position, and we have done it all- private practice in a small community, Academic, and currently, a hospital based position in a large city. All of the job searches involved external or internal recruiters to varying degrees, but it all starts the same way- by you sending your CV to them.

Some recruiters are very good, and some are bad. For that matter, so are Dept Chairs and private practice physicians....
