Can someone please explain what GPR is and the benefits of doing this program?

I currently live in California, but I would like to go to dental school in New York. However, after I graduate from dental school in NY, I want to practice dentistry back home in California. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that if I go to dental school in New York and do the GPR program after graduating, I won't need to take the California boards in order to work in California.

😕

Many do the GPR because they do not feel ready to practice right away. But also, in different GPR programs you can get different certifications like IV... or some teach you implants.. ect.. You also make some money (with the VA hospitals usually paying the most)... So additional education..
And you are correct!
To practice in NY I believe that you have to do a GPR, but California does not require this. If you do decide to the the one-year GPR you are excused form part II boards and do not have to take them to practice back here in California.
Or you can skip the GPR,take the boards, and practice here in Cali
Hope this helped, my boyfired is getting into a GPR so I know some stuff about it 🙂
