Hey guys. I just took an achiever QR test and there were a lot of questions that were basically testing whether or not you know how to convert between things like pounds and ounces, Fahrenheit and Celsius, galleons and liters etc.

I think that's pretty dumb since it's not really testing your ability with math but, in any case, are there a lot of these questions on the actual DATs or is achiever being a d-bag w/me?

From past posts I've seen, you do need to know these conversions (I cant remember mine honestly, you get too in the zone). This is mostly for your benefit.. to save time. They may give you one conversion, but its usually to make the problem longer, such as feet/meters in a mile then making you go to something else such as yards or inches. Memorizing the conversions saves you time with or without the question providing a conversion.

Temperature is easy, for you only need one equation to convert them all. Dont memorize F to C and then C to F, just use basic algebra to convert the equation to your need.

From what I remember people saying, know:

cm --> inches
miles --> feet
miles --> yards
gallons --> ounces (saves time)
miles --> km (saves time)
Cels --> Fahr & Kelv

etc..

From my test I remember being asked a question of conversion. The cool part was that they gave one part of the measurement.

The point is the conversion process, or, dimensional analysis.. Setting it up, canceling out units, etc.

Conversions weren't tricky. You just have to cancel out the units and leave yourself with the units you need. And yes, Achiever is a total d-bag when it comes to QR...well the DAT experience in general. Know your metric conversions, like cm to inches to feet to yards to miles. And temperature conversions might not hurt either!
