Hi all,

Sorry, I'm kinda new to this site and saw a couple of interesting things. Firstly, where can you get Dental decks (other than from your seniors). Secondly, the national board exams...where can you get old exams? Just curious. Thanks.

When do you actually take your part 1's? After your first year or after a year and a half? I am just wondering. And then Part 2's?

Part 1:

Most of dental schools: summer after 2nd year
Very few dental schools: end of fall semester 2nd year
Very few dental schools: summer after 1st year

Part 2:

All dental schools: end of fall semester 4th year

Now that Part 1 is offered on computer.

Dean's approval is REQUIRED for dental students who wish to take the Part 1 board.

You can take Part II anytime your fourth year, it is offered year-round on computer now.

The majority will take it in December of fourth year, but you could take it before then or procrastinate and take it in the spring semester senior year, as long as you pass before graduation (if your school requires you to pass Part II to award your diploma).

Yup, that was me and now that is you, Gavin! 🙂

BTW, are you required to take it at that time now or do you have the option of taking it after your 2nd year?

Tufts students take part II at the end of their 3rd year.
