General questions about DAT

Hey all,

I'm studying for my MCATs right now on Aug 19 and I want to take the DATs as well. However, aside from the material on the DAT, I'm not too familiar with the test. So here's a few questions that you guys may be able to answer...

1.) What's a 'good score' for the DAT? I.e. what's the equivalent of a 38 on the MCAT, or a 1500 on the SAT (the old one, at least), etc.? I guess what I'm looking for is the higher percentiles.

2.) What study books do you suggest? I have Kaplan, Princeton and Examcrackers for MCAT, but I feel like I need additional books for the visual part and for the random other material like photosynthesis and evolution.

3.) This is not pertaining to the DAT, but if I'm applying for Dental school for Fall 2008, when should I start applying?

Just take the DAT. Forget about the special practice aside from PAT and math. The MCAT's graded on a much, much tighter curve, because those medical students are so damn smart! I worked my ass off studying for the MCAT. My score was a mere 33. I didn't work a lick for the DAT and scored a 23.... 4 yrs after taking the mcat!

Percentage-wise, my 23 is equiv to a 37 MCAT!

22 is the avg for harvard dental. 35.5 or so the avg for harvard med.
20 is the approx the avg for penn/columbia dental. 33-34's teh avg for penn/columbia med! you just can't compare dental and med! MCAT curve is soooo much tighter, cuz the quality of the students are sooo much better!

(of course, both sdn med and sdn dental have their fair share of so-so students...)
