I have a few questions about the interview season:

1) Considering its early December, if I haven't heard back from a school (i.e. no interview and no rejection) should I consider that I will eventually get rejected? I ask because I still have 15+ schools I still have to hear back from.

2) I know medical school interviews go until late February/March, but when do the II's actually go out for those interviews?

3) Is it true that upper tier medical schools tend to send out II's after lower tier schools?

To answer your first question, always assume that you'll be a reapplicant until you're holding on to an acceptance.

I'll let someone else answer the other two.

1) Some schools are wrapping up their interview cycles now (NYU, Mayo, and UMich come to mind) while others are still sending more on the way (UCLA, Yale, etc). It really depends on the school.

2) Again, it depends. Some schools will notify you of an interview and have you schedule it two months out. Other places let you schedule within two weeks. For the Feb/March interviews, I’ll be guessing you’re going to get an invite around January/February.

3) No, that’s usually not the case, and I’m not sure where you heard that. In a few of my friends’ cycles and my cycle, it’s all been a mix.
