General Surgery Possible?

COMLEX 534 and STEP 1 around 210. Chances?

I am thinking of applying to AOA general surgery spot. I know my Step 1 score is not great, will study for Step 2 and try to increase. How are my chances? I am top half of class.

As everyone says around here, board scores aren't everything. DO residencies put some emphasis on auditions, but you'll also need solid letters and other things to put you above the crowd. With a somewhat-average COMLEX, think of research, leadership, and anything else that will make you stand out. Also, some competitive programs (or some programs, in general) may be not be going for AOA distinction with the merger, so be sure to do your homework.
