Thought I'd start this in light of Mikes Lexapro thread. Guess it's true, any retail peeps here seen it yet? And while we're on the subject of oral bisphosphonates, my hospital doesn't carry them on formulary (essentially the argument is acute care patients won't be here more than a week, etc.) Of course we do carry Zometa. Just wondering what everyones policy was on this class (@ my old hospital we carried just about everything, things were "non formulary" but if the doc wrote for it and wanted it, guess what, they got it; there is no real reason to have several PPIs, H2antagonists, etc. on formulary

We only have Fosamax and Zometa on formulary, we do have couple others left over from previously approve non-formulary requests.

When we get non-formulary orders, some are on auto-sub protocols, others we usually give the docs a call and make a recommendation to switch. It's case by case. But the there are some general "rule of thumb" exceptions, such as psych meds (you are not gonna risk that).

That's significant given how many docs prescribe it for sleep 🙄. But I'm really waiting for Plavix to go generic in couple of months.

I heard something about the FDA not having bio-equivalency for DPI's though...

Geodon went a few weeks ago...Zyprexa is due March 25th.

Haven't seen Boniva yet. Advair won't be until at least 2017...lots of stupid legal wrangling there. Same with the Fovent Diskus (2016 at earliest). Flovent HFA may be earlier (like within 2 years)...and if it goes, I'm switching from Advair for personal use...

Have you heard of it being used for PTSD? Supposedly it has some use at the VA in the Northeast, but in the South they don't want to use it.

We've had the olanzapine for a while (months, it seems like). Just got the ziprasidone this week. Got escitalopram last week. Don't have generic Boniva.

I also understood the holdup is with demonstrating the generic equivalency of the diskus.

That's why we have auto-sub in place for advair to symbicort.

We just got our first shipment of generic Geodon. A tech gave it to me to verify and it took me a moment to realize what it was. We also got generic prometrium a week ago or so
