Anyhow thank to you all the people who replied to my question.

I love what SDN is turning into.

I dont think there could ever be peace in the middle east until the oil runs out.

Maybe not even then. They will be bickering poor countries instead of bickering rich countries. Look at Africa. No peace and no wealth either. And what wealth there is gets horded by the elite ruling classes. Ultimately it's the way countries are governed that determines whether they are at war or not. Wealth only inflames tensions that were already there.

Where did i say that i hate America. Dont put words in my mouth.

I never said you did. You have, however, made far more disturbing comments on other threads, so playing the victim isn't going to work out for you very well.

I dont believe the crap they say about how Iran is attacking American soldiers in Iraq.

You can believe or not believe whatever you want. I certainly believe that Iran is supporing the Shi'ite insurgency. It's pretty obvious when Iranian made mines and explosives start popping up in the Mahdi Army. If I were them, I'd do it. It angers me as an American that Iran is fighting a proxy war against us, but then again, we put ourselves in this position. More fallout from George Bush's brilliant foreign policy.

They are also linking Iran to terrorists.

I suppose that depends on if you consider Hezballah a terrorist organization or not.

I don't really get why people take the time to post in threads about how people shouldn't be posting in threads.

Obviously, there a jillion and one med school threads, why does it matter if one or two aren't really related?

Just turn the channel, or whatever.

actually i dont consider hezbollah a terrorist organization. Although they blew up the military barracks in what 1982? I consider that an act of war rather than a terrorist attack.

You're not getting it. Any political viewpoint is valid. This is why David Duke is allowed to run on an aryan nation platform. Do I like his viewpoint? Hell, no. But does he have the right to hold and discuss these views? Hell, yes.

Any argument supporting the idea of viewpoints that shouldn't be allowed smacks of McCarthyism, which isn't as far back as most folks seem to think.

You're making those of us on the left look bad with your poor understanding of history and political discourse.

1) McCarthyism was repugnant because it was government that was attempting to stifle civil discourse. That's what the constitution covers. For example, the government can't throw him in jail for spouting his crap, but I can sure as hell throw him out of my house.

2) In the process of telling me any viewpoint is acceptable, shouldn't that include viewpoints that geneticclone is a *****? Why does "tolerance" necessary mean "acceptance" to you?

3) I never suggested that geneticclone should be forced to shut up. I was just saying that the "leave the U.S. and go live in the facist craphole called the Middle East" was an equally valid and not unexpected point of view.

Thanks for trying to stifle my viewpoint.

Maybe to some. For me, McCarthyism wasn't so repugnant because it was the government trying to stifle rights, but because the public bought into it. The government is constantly trampling on rights. It's what governments often do. What was repugnant about McCarthyism is that the public agreed with the idea that folks shouldn't have the right to alternative opinions or alternative speech.

The fact that my viewpoint of McCarthyism is different than yours, Tired, doesn't indicate a "poor understanding of history and political discourse". Just a different opinion.
2) In the process of telling me any viewpoint is acceptable, shouldn't that include viewpoints that geneticclone is a *****? Why does "tolerance" necessary mean "acceptance" to you?
It doesn't. And I I didn't say every viewpoint is acceptable, just that everyone is free to have it. I'm not sure where you're getting this stuff. You may have me confused with another poster.
Thanks for trying to stifle my viewpoint.
Yikes, you're easily stifled. Sorry if I hurt your feelings. We just have a different point of view is all. To each their own.

First i have no clue wht your talking about in the first paragraph.
In the second paragraph he just says that we should be allowed to research it like every other historyical event. Also he never called a conference to discuss the existance of the holocaust.

And third he never said he wants to wipe a country off the map. The phrase does not exist in Farsi.
1. Ahmedinejad is saying that the Allies made up the Holocaust as an excuse to embarrass the defeated Germans further, in a letter to the German chancellor. He offers so-called "support" to the Germans by trying to play buddy buddy with them and say that the Nazis didn't actually do all that stuff.

2. http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=2715610 - Conference to discuss whether or not Holocaust happened.

3. I'm sorry, he said that the Israeli regime "must vanish from the pages of time". Is that better for you?

I'm not trying to hate on you or Palestinians; I'm just wondering how you can make and unqualified statement that says you support that man.

Hmm guess you were right about the second part. LOL Holocaust deniers.
I was wrong didn't know they actually had a conference with rabbis.

I think it's unfortunate that it has become de facto for government to trample on people's rights. When will people realize that libertarianism is the way to go?

Aw, why are you backing off your own statements? Remember this one:

Any argument supporting the idea of viewpoints that shouldn't be allowed smacks of McCarthyism, which isn't as far back as most folks seem to think.

Eventually you'll see a difference between "Everyone is free to hold their own views" versus "Everyone has to accept other people's viewpoints". In the meantime you're just muddling yourself up with semantics.

Also, McCarthy's hearings were pretty rapidly shut down once they were televised and the public became aware of his tactics. There never was much "buy-in" for his red-baiting once people saw it for themselves.

I'm only pointing that out because misunderstanding the facts isn't the same as "having different opinions".

Sorry, Tired. I didn't say everyone has to accept other people's viewpoints. Don't see that in the post and don't see how you could get that out of it. I'm really not sure where you're getting this stuff. You realy seem to be on some kind of mission here.
