For the kids out there....

Does anyone know if polar mutations are cis or trans acting??

For example:
Given the genotype
LacZ+ LacY-/LacZ^P LacY+

In this case the specimen CANNOT metab. lactose, based on the polar mutation at the LacZ gene that preceeds the permease gene. But does it also effect the other lacZ+ gene???

Any ideas?

Haha Hey CJ,
School has consumed my life...so I haven't been on here lately but I'm glad I didn't stay in there...that stuff looks kinda hard
And she said the next test would just be kinda a review from biochem...hmpf.
