Hey all,

Can anyone tell me how much medical genetics there is in step 1? Stuff like pedigrees, cytogenetics, genetic diseases, etc? Is what's in First Aid sufficient? What would you all recommend in addition? I know it's a relative low yield subject, but any help would be great! 🙂

Thanks for the info! Anyone else have any thoughts? 🙂

I took step 1 two days ago and the two heaviest subjects were Path and Biochem and I would say approximately 70% of the biochem dealt with gentics/cytogenetics. First Aid was simply not enough to answer the bulk of the biochem questions. It could be different on your exam but I wouldn't risk it by relying solely on FA for my Biochem study. I did this and hate that I did so.

Yikes...thanks for the info! I hope things work out for you! Everyone always says that biochem is relatively low yield, but I guess not always...

I knew I should not visit SDN often before my step 1. Now, you just add one more day of biochem to my schedule.
