Homologus chromosomes are:

A. the chromosomes contributed by each sexual partner,
B. the chrosomes in a pair, which are, genetically, alike in shape, size and gene arrangement.

The correct answer is (B), but I think A is also a valid answer, because for any given homologous chromosome, one is from a male and the other from a female.

Can anyone explain to me why (a) isnt the correct answer?

key word is pair, listed only in choice B.

the first choice doesn't take into account the fact that homologous chromosomes are always in pairs.

With 12 hrs to go, you should be focused on getting a good night's sleep and a good meal. If you must study, try something easy to boost up your confidence. No need to get your nerves rattled.

my friend,
the Not all sex chromosome are homologous, because male has XY and female has XX.

just relax, i'm sure you will do fine. have a good night's rest and just pump yourself up for tomorrow.

this is a bad question. there are polyploid organisms out there that have multiple (more than 2) homologous chromosomes (goldfish, salamanders, etc.)
