I'm hoping that this is the best place to ask this question!

I'm a first year med student and the interesting topic of pain came up today in anatomy. We learned that the genitofemoral nerve innervates the testicles in men as well the round ligament of the ovaries and the labia majora. Our teacher mentioned that the pain of a male getting hit in the testicles is similar in pain to a woman experiencing the rupture of an ovarian cyst.

I (a male) told this to my girlfriend who of course said that this is no way true and became a sudden feminist (menstrual cramps, pregnancy, etc are all worse than getting kicked in the balls)

Is there any truth to either side of the argument? I'm on the side that if something is innervated by a nerve, pain should somewhat similar?

What do you guys think?
