I'm not sure if another forum has this info (if it does, could someone point it out?), but I was curious about the Georgetown interview. I've heard they ask questions about your stances on things like abortion and stem cell research, and that they're really hardcore against both these topics. The problem is that I'm not...I'm pro-choice and for stem cell research is it's used appropriately. Can they use similar positions on these subjects as reasons to reject people? And if so, does anyone know if they actually do? Thanks for the help.

By the way, I'm not opposed to going to a Jesuit med school as long as I'm not expected to convert.

I ended up withdrawing my application to Georgetown when I realized how much their religious affiliation influences their policies on birth control (essentially banned from campus), reproductive health policies, etc... I'm not sure they can use your beliefs as a reason not to accept you, but I realized I don't want to attend a school with official views (which are bound to affect the curriculum & overall attitude) that are so different from mine.

I would suggest reading through a lot of Georgetown's SDN interview feedback. Multiple people have mentioned these views, but also comment that there are many opportunities to learn about abortions, etc at partner hospitals. And also that they don't feel GT discriminates against students with opposing views on these issues.

That being said, I'm not sure how I feel about going to a school with these official views as well. I think I am going to go to my interview and feel it out for myself.

I'm curious if you would have turned down an acceptance from them if you interviewed and later found out about their views?

I think I would have turned it down as long as I had an acceptance from any other school; otherwise, I like to think I would have gone and tried to make a difference in whatever small way I could.

I agree with you...I was looking through some of the feeback and the opinions about Gtown seemed to vary a bit. Although I was concerned that the people who gave very positive feeback about it actually agree with the school in terms of beliefs, so I wanted to hear others' opinions. But I agree that the best thing to do is just check it out ourselves.

I could care less, as long as I get my MD.

 That was my initial feeling as well.
