Any advice for interviewing at Georgetown?

Laidback interview. Be ready for an ethics question. Though not everyone is asked one, the majority of people in my group (including myself) got asked about ethics. The school, being a Jesuit institution, stresses ethics a lot. They do not want any associations with abortion or stem cell research. Otherwise, just enjoy your day. I had a med student interviewer who I didn't click with. But I got on the alternate pool, so it didn't go as bad as i thought. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I'm happy to hear that it is pretty relaxed. How long ago did you interview...and if you dont mind me asking, have you heard any news since then?

I interviewed on Nov 11th, and got accepted on Dec. 25th

Wow that's great-congrats! What other schools are you choosing between, and how does Georgetown rank in that list.....also (again if you dont mind) for comparison purposes....what are your quick stats

So far I've been accepted at Temple and GTown. 32 MCAT, 3.5 sci, 3.4 non, general stuff, stud. gov., volunteering, and really kicking LORs

Choose a chair in the fishbowl. I'm not kidding - you sit there all day listening to people talk, and I was on the couch which meant I had to sit twisted to the side.

Other than that, it's pretty laid-back and everyone is super nice. They seem to really like it when you show interest. I mean, I'm sure everyone likes that, but someone commented to me that she liked how interested I seemed in her presentation.

I was part of the first group that interviewed at Gtown. Listen closely to what Mrs. Sullivan is saying during the day because that's what they're looking for: basically students that agree with their corpa personalis philosophy, healing of the whole person. They're into service, compassion and people who find medicine as a responsibility to humanity.

I got in on Oct. 15. My MCAT was a 33, GPA 3.55 and I currently head a non-profit organization for teenagers. I really liked georgetown a lot. I have an interview coming up at Wash U and after my eventual rejection from there I'll probably be heading to gtown. See you then! Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice. The only other thing I am concerned about is an interview so late in the process. Do you think there are good odds of being accepted?

since this is a georgetown thread, I thought I would ask, where did you guys stay for your interview. I have emailed pretty much eveyone on the host list and received no replies. Should I just fork over the big bucks to stay in a hotel?

I went during exam weeks, so I had no host respond either. I stayed at the Georgetown conference center. A bit pricey, but nice. Its adjacent to the ugrad student union, so you can go to the lounge to eat or go online. It's also right next to the med school, so you can wake up a bit later 🙂

I think your chances of an acceptance are pretty similar to ours. I interviewed Nov. 3 (accepted Dec. 20), and they told us that in any given period a certain capped number (~12-15 out of 75, but don't take that as fact) are accepted, and the rest are waitlisted. They tell you that writing a strong letter of interest/intent, however, will most likely get you off the waitlist. Good luck and enjoy the day.

Just an addendum. I believe it's cura personalis, not corpa, might be wrong though. GOod luck.
