There is your answer. End of discussion

hey,

I would pick georgetown over drexel - I think that g'town has a little bit of an edge - it is starting to climb again in reputation, its in a great area, there are a ton of resources in dc, and it is not all that more expensive than drexel (which is pretty damn expensive). I was not all that impressed with the facilities of g'town when i interviewed there, but it has a great match which testifies to its ability to attract its students to good residency programs. also, as the person before stated, if your gut is to go there, then you SHOULD go there- there is no better reason to attend - and better yet, if your gut says to go there, then there is no advantage to going to drexel.

I am not going to bash drexel though - i think that despite its seemingly falling reputation, it also is a good school (as is any m ed school) - people seem to really like it there, its in philly, and it has a huge technological advantage to a lot of schools - I considered going there, but when it comes down to it, you have to weigh varying factors such as debt load, location, prestige, and where you are happiest - if all point in one direction, then you have an easy decision.

I wouldn't stress about switching to g'town just b/c you settled in your mind you were going to drexel - it might be a temporary hassle finding an apt, getting readjusted, etc., but once you get there, u will be so happy.

good luck

I agree with biffbuddy. While Drexel does get an unfair bashing on SDN, I would pick Gtown over Drexel.

Georgetown's name goes a long way over Drexel's and the friends that I have going to med school at Gtown say they love it there. I get the sense from my friends that one of the reasons Georgetown hasn't been living up to its name is its not so stellar facilities. But I hear they're working on that --- I think they're putting in a new patient skills center and are updating their micro labs.

Plus, Georgetown's in D.C. I grew up right outside of D.C in Northern Virginia and also spent two years up in South Jersey outside of Philly. Philly is nowhere as nice of a city as D.C. Every time I've visited my friends down in Georgetown there always seems to be a lot to do and a lot of fun to be had. Of course, you won't have much time to enjoy things (the joy of being a med student) but Georgetown's location defintiely trumps the Philly area Drexel's in.

And it's not like one is cheaper than the other. I think they both have tuitions in the low 30s, and I'm guessing city living will be just as expensive in both places --- though if i had to guess Georgetown might be a bit more expensive.

Plus, a lot of people have posted that Drexel has serious financial issues. I don't know how much of that is a real concern, but it's something to think about.

By the way, any advice on how to get into Georgetown?
