Georgetown SMP thread! Who else is going??

personally i have choosed to do smp instead of a post bac w/ pre med classes because i did well in my pre med classes in undergrad, but my mcats were a little lower then i had hoped, so i am doing the smp program to prove that i can hang in med school classes.

In case you guys were wondering, here are my stats.

GPA: 3.65
Sci. GPA: 3.63
MCAT: 28

Yo hiphop-

Your numbers aren't that low...i think you're actually competitive for gtown med school without the SMP program. I have numbers than you and am entering gtown med in a month.

yeah hip hop; a lot of people in my class last year hadn't applied before cause they thought their numbers were too low; a lot got interviews though
smp is good for people who have decent mcats above 30 and a low gpa around a 3.1
and about the other post concerning post bac versus smp
smp gives you a chance to take classes at medical school level; so if you do well the idea is that other med schools realize you can handle it

hey guys, i actually applied to med schools this year. i got 4 interviews, and i ended up on 2 waitlists, but no acceptances thus far. I thought that my lack of acceptances could be do to my mcats, so i thought that smp might help prove that i can survive a med school atmosphere. anyways, i know everyones situation is different i just thought i would share my story. 🙂

hiphop; most of my class were reapplying so you'll be in good company
also look at this as a two year process; you might want to retake the mcats after finishing the program; bio will be a breeze and a high mcat with your grades will def get you in to a good school
