Georgetown SMP to GUSOM

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have commented on this before - it's not all about smp gpa.

I'm a former smp, but not at gusom, so maybe my comments aren't what you're looking for. However, I know the numbers.

There are about 180 smps, ~70 will get interviews using mostly a gpa screen. If you have an smp gpa>3.5 thru Feb/March (GI module), you will probably get an interview. There were some credible theories w/in the class that GUSOM adcom actually used total point value for all med classes taken, rather than gpa for the screening.

Out of the 70 who got interviewed, factors other than smp gpa weighed in a lot more. Extracurrics, clinical xp, home state, etc. all seemed to matter. I wish I could give you better data as to who is successful post-interview, but even the smp advisors I went to didn't seem to know for sure. The smp program is completely separate from gusom admissions.

gl, and maybe someone else has more to say.
