Hi Guys,

I would like to know the "real" different between Drexel med and Georgetown med? like prestigous, usmle score and matching for residency.
Because i got accepted at both school ( got off from GT waiting list yesterday, and i got 48 hours to withdraw one offer), but i can't decide on which one to attend, becaue my family (my parents and my sister) live in Philly and i am very close to them.....so is it worth to move all the way to DC?

don't know much about either schools but i think they're on the same level, maybe with georgetown a little higher. georgetown isn't as prestigious as its undergrad college. med school is what you make of it, period.

i would live near family, they can help out a lot during the stressful times of med school. no doubt about it.

med school is what you make of it, period.

This is the best advice you're going to get. I would say that no matter what school you attend, your Step 1 score is going to be much more dependent on your capabilities than the instruction at your school. Matching is going to be dependent upon how well YOU did at your institution, and will be impacted very little at all by the name of the school you graduate from. Go where you think you're going to be happy, because that's ultimately the school you'll perform best at. Good luck!

...with the distance thing you're really splitting hairs. It's really not far at all from DC to Philly.

And as far as choosing between the two...answer these questions and you'll have the answer to where to go on your own:

1. Which school do you like more...better curriculum for you, better atmosphere, nicer facilities, better living situations?

2. Which school would be less expensive to live at and attend?

3. How often do you want to see your family? (If every day, Drexel, if once every 2-3 weeks, GU)

I agree with the above posters that prestige isn't really that big a deal...unless you were comparing Harvard to a Caribbean school or something.

Choosing between medical schools is a pre-med issue and therefore this thread is moved to the Pre-Allopathic Forum. Allopathic medical students read and respond to threads in Pre-Allo and may follow and respond to this one if desired.

georgetown is ranked in the USNEWS and world report if ur wondering about rankings, drexel isnt
