Georgetown vs. GW Med. School

i am trying to decide between georgetown and GW but I am so confused. I had a great interview at a GW and a so-so one at georgetown but think both schools are great. although i am only a senior in college i am pretty sure i want to do peds and know that students at GW do their training at Children's where I hope one day to do my residency. i heard it helps to go to the school where you want to do your residency but am not sure if that's true. does anyone from either school love or hate it there? pros vs. cons? also any reason georgetown is ranked and GW isn't? i heard rankings aren't that big of a deal though. thanks!!!

You should go to GW of course, but I'm partial because I go there!

Peds dept is supposed to suck at G-town. This from more than a few firsthand sources at the school.

Don't worry about the rankings, from what i've heard GW is a better place to be.

wow! all the gtown hate...

i do not know if our "peds dept sucks". but i do understand how going to gtown would not make much sense if you are into peds. Lots of people here are very competitive and looking to specialize. You will match into a top peds program from either school. If your talking radiology/surgery/something more competitive, id go with gtown, our match list kills GW. But it is extra work in my opinion.

My advice is to go wherever you'll be most comfortable. Also, think about location and what your commute will be like. Since both your schools are in DC, think about revisiting both and maybe talking with some current students. I'm at GW so feel free to PM me. Good luck 🙂
