Did anyone receive a call of acceptance from Dean Wall this past Thurs? I know that was when the committee met and i was told by ms. sullivan that my app was being considered that day. Lo and behold, no phonecall for me. Have other people, who have been accepted to Gtown, had a phonecall of acceptance? Also, at this point does Gtown even reject many post-interview applicants or do they put most of us in the highly-select group?? Thanks!

i don't think they call when you get accepted. she gave us the numbers for accept/highly select/reject when i interviewed. out of 75 applicants reviewed at a time i think it was something like 20/35/20 but don't quote me on that. the number of accepts is correct i think, but i'm not sure about the last two numbers b/c she was talking so fast. also, the reject pile may be called 'not highly select' but is basically a rejection from what i understand.
i talked to her last week & she said my file was currently being reviewed. she said to expect a decision letter in 2-3 weeks -- don't know why it will take that long.

your file goes under review for 2 weeks meaning all the adcoms read them on their own over a period of 2 weeks. then after the 2 week period they send in their votes in a meeting. i know b/c mine is under review too. good luck.

not sure surfdevl02, it's my only acceptance right now so possibly, but i'm holding out for one to rochester or possibly mt. sinai/vermont. depends what happens with rochester in the next month i guess. maybe i'll be opening up a spot at georgetown for somebody.

Congratulations. As I have said before, I only have a bone to pick with the admissions staff, not the school itself. GT has a rep of producing great clinicians and in a great area.

PS, If you really want to get in, all you have to do is write a letter of intent.

Anyone that thinks you get into Gtown just because you write a letter is sorely mistaken. I know many many people, most of whom are Gtown alumni, who wrote the letter and never got in. Its a very difficult school to get into, and its insulting to the people that do get in there to say its just because they wrote the highly select letter. Obviously the letter helps you, and its certainly expected to demonstrate your interest, but by no means is it a guarantee, or even likely that it will get you in.

So i called Ms. Sullivan today to see if a decision has been made. She said a letter was mailed out to my house March 10th but didn't didn't say what the decision was. Damnit, i got denied! Do they usually congratulate you over the phone if you got in?

If you want some more info, you could check out the thread from last year with "accepted, rejected, waitlisted" and see if anybody was rejected or accepted at this time of year (or rejected). Good luck.

good idea Jalby...interesting though, seems like everyone either gets 'highly selected' or accepted after interview. I didn't see anyone that got denied outright after interview yet i remember ms. sullivan saying they do deny people after interviewing...

There is a reason they have the highly select list. They want to make sure that most of the people that they offer acceptances take matriculate, so that they look better. That is why the secondary is "Why Georgetown" so they can gauge their interest, and that is also why they have a highly select group. They don't admit many people right off. The highly select group is there so they can see who sends really good letters of interest and intent, so that they get the people they offer. So if you are in this group, don't worry to much. Just write a great letter about how much you love Georgetown.
