saw the game at a bar with a buddy who plays soccer and it was fantastic. I don't go to a lot of sports bars or watch a lot of games, but it seemed like the crowd was WAY more into this game than the average football or baseball crowd. It was really crazy and pretty cool.

That's one of the best things about soccer...people (not usually in the U.S.) are REALLY into their team or country, actually CARE about the teams, know the players, know the strategy, etc. They're passionate, and it's infectious.
Compare to your average "fan" of a typical team in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, etc.

And incidentally, it was a very good game, an unexpected result for me, Germany looked like a second-rate team for most of the game and Spain were just running circles around them.

I loved the part where Torres almost scored a second goal exactly like the first (it was midway through the second half). He just missed the ball, and Lehmann slid in and scooped the ball up. Would've been sweet if he could've scored two by chipping them over the keeper.
Overall, totally agree. Germany just didn't come out. Tough luck for Michael Ballack. Haven't his teams come runner up in everything this year? Premier League, Football League Cup, Champions League, and now UEFA European Cup. Ouch.

i feel that most anesthesiologists are like the spanish midfielders like iniesta or fabregas.......dont hear about them during the espn top plays and they help make pretty boys like Torres (aka surgeons) look good on tough plays. Glory Glory....

I see your point though. Last night's game aside for Ballack, the one-touch midfield play that he, Fabregas, etc, play, to me is the most amazing part of soccer. I dunno how they think of, see, and make the plays that they do. Crazy.
The goal Torres made was sick. He is the best striker in the game!
