Okay I am a first year student and I am considering getting a part time (10-12 hrs/wk) job. Nothing major. Just something to supplement the income. Am I being crazy or is this do-able? I only have clas for 4 hours a day and I am done with anatomy (we did it in 6 1/2 weeks)

My boss asked me to keep working next year. 😱 I'm grateful that she wants me to stay, but isn't that a little nuts?

Would you be making enough money at your job to make up for the time you'de be giving up?

the only people I know that work are medics/EMTs who "work" waiting for calls. They can study while working...

I know people at my school that work. If you are doing fine and losing those hours wouldn't seriously stress you out then why not.

I babysit - I can choose when/where I work and who I work for. I often get study time, and it's usually Fri/Sat night when I wouldn't study anyways. I wouldn't "work" under any other circumstances.

Working certainly is possible. Since I'm working and going to school, I do neither one as well as I am capable. But for me the loss of income (significantly more than part-time retail), would cause even more stress in my life than the constant search for a few more hours every week. Lastly, working means that you have to give other things up. For example, I don't get a day to sleep in or I can't make many of the school's social events or participate in all of the extra committees and interest groups. Anyways, that's my story
