How hard is it to get a job after residency? (and even more specific how wanted are ER docs?) Oh and good luck to all those taking the MCAT tomorrow! at least we get to sleep in...

other boards besides pre-med could answer this question 'better,' but the easy answer is that you will always be able to find a job with an MD or DO behind your name. Physicians are always needed, etc ...

It's generally on the easier side because of shear demand. However, the answer to your question broken down to each individual circumstance can be quite variable. Depends on LOTS of things. Some examples: flexibility regarding geographic location (desirable versus not desirable), specialty, how picky you are about the job itself , other demands such as family, whether your husband or wife is also a professional and wants to work, etc. etc. These are all things that immediately come to my mind because they are all things I'm thinking about right now. They can all, potentially, limit your job search. There are tons of other things, I'm sure.

BTW - I'm an EM resident.
