Does anybody know what exactly I need to bring when I go to get my military ID badge? I've been asking around and have never really gotten a straight answer. I'm in my second year, going to training this summer, and I'm trying to get this taken care of over the break. Maybe some of you can tell me what you brought when you went to get your ID, as far as documentation goes. Plus - would I need to shave/get a haircut, etc? haha...just wondering. Thanks everyone.

I don't remember exactly but I think you need your commissioning papers, and two forms of identification. (Not exactly sure about that though) Obviously you should shave, get your hair in regs and show up in uniform.

You can call the local base badging office and have them check if you are in DEERS. If you are in there you can take you oath of office and two ID's to get your ID. If you live near any military base regardless of branch of service you can call and and they can leave your name at the Visitors Office.

If you need PM me I'll give the RAPIDS site locator web site where you can find an ID card office by zip code.

Hmm...I have a driver's license, but nothing else 'state-issued', except a voter's registration card. I have a passport, but that's at my place at school. Do you suppose I could use some combo of a driver's license, voter's registration, or student ID card?

Also, what does hair in regs mean? My hair is kinda short already, but not military short. Definitely presentable though. Also, I haven't gotten my uniform yet...although I don't think that's necessary. Is it?

figure out whatever branch you're in and then google "branch grooming standards". you can find all the regs online for everything

If you're getting a Green Reserves ID, then uniform shouldn't matter. You can wear whatever.

I would also just find whatever badging station is closest and go there. It needn't be your branch. You can call the phone number lilsted for said office and they'll tell you what the required IDs are. I think I needed Oath of Office and 2 other IDs. I brought my driver's license and passport.

Oh yeah, I was thinking of getting a CAC. If it is just the reserves ID I know when I was in ROTC I wore my uniform for it but I guess HPSP students could get away with civies.

So do we just get the green card while an HPSP student? No CAC card until we graduate and are on full time active duty status?

Dont you need a CAC card to use the computers? Do HPSP students not use them while on rotations?

Also, can spouses go ahead and get their ID card?

Edit: I spoke with a resident and got my answer for the first part...for those interested...you get your green reserves ID and everytime you go on ADT you get a CAC card for the 45 day period.

I don't think that you're eligible for a CAC unless you're active duty. If you call the badging station, they will tell you that you don't need a uniform for a green reserves ID.

Even at COT, all they'll give you is a green reserves ID, but that's low on the priority list for them. They'll take all AD first for IDs and if they have time they'll get reserve IDs for the HPSP folks. I didn't get the chance at COT and got one later.

I got my CAC photo taken in civilian clothes, so I have to doubt that you'll need your uniform. I would wear at least a shirt with a collar though...

At the reserve badging station where I got my reserves ID done, they did specifically require uniform for a CAC, so it might vary from station to station. I'd call ahead to make sure.
