LMAO

I know it sounds crazy. He told me that he has personally seen adcoms look at this. He said there was some applicant whose dad drove him to the interview, and in the adcom meeting, the dean of admissions brought up that he wouldn't fit in at the school because he doesn't have a drivers' license. Furthermore, the adcom took this as evidence that he was unable to take care of himself.

It sounds insane to me too, but then again, with admissions being so competitive, I guess they start to look at little things like this?

I don't think having parent driving you to the interview is the problem, not having a driver license is the problem. I didn't get my first car until the end of my first year. But since I got my car, I certainly could take care of a lot more things and do things I needed to do. I am pretty sure most teenagers are super excited to get their driver license and get behind the wheels, so if you are 22+ and no driver license, it does look a bit weird.

during one of my interviews, I saw some parents attending the information section. Even if they are not paying for their kids' education, they can be concerned and want to look at the place where their kids start their professional training.

Not medical school related but just want to share this weird experience. At my previous job, my boss set up an interview with this female candidate. My boss got caught up with some other things so she asked me to greet the candidate and show her the lab a little bit. When I came get her at the door, her dad and (I guess) brother were going with her. I said hi how are you doing blah blah, the dad just said hi and started looking at some information on the wall, then asked me what kind of company this is. The brother didn't open his mouth and sat down on the couch nearby 😕
