I decided to try to get into dental school last semester. Last semester was my first semester back in school after a year break. My gpa was low, but after returning it is better now. I am a jr with 74 credits.

My question: Is it possible to get Dental schools to look at the gpa you obtain during your last 2 years if there has been a break and a change in direction (i.e. learning that you want to become a dentist)?

If you don't mind sharing, what is your cumulative GPA for the 74 credit that you already have?

cgpa is 2.06. Earned a 3.35 last semester though. Will be starting to take the dent. science pre-reqs this spring.

They are going to consider your gpa as a whole. However, they understand that one's direction can change and they love upward trends so if you do well with a "pre-dental" curriculum as well as the DAT you should be alright as far as those factors go. Load up on shadowing/assisting/employment experience in the field and join other organizations if feasable.. Good luck.

ps, just call or email an admissions representative at a school you may be interested in. They will be able to offer you guidance.

boost up that gpa a lot
